Antipodes Audio is a business run by Mark and Sonia Jenkins, established in Auckland New Zealand in 2004. Amongst its staff are also daughters Jessica and Lara Jenkins.
Antipodes Audio was established following several years of research into human hearing, looking at why electronically reproduced music could measure accurately and yet not sound as if real instruments and voices were present. This led to further research and a number of important discoveries, specifically about the way conventional cable geometries distort phase relationships. Our early cable design and manufacture focused simply on cable geometries to achieve phase coherence. The early cables were fantastically received because of their natural clarity and musical expression, and so this encouraged us to painstakingly address every aspect of cable design and manufacture.
Today we outsource for bespoke manufacture to our specifications from raw materials, to a small number of specialist businesses in Auckland, New Zealand. The only exceptions to this are that the connector inners are manufactured using high copper content material to our specification in Taiwan, and that Antipodes Audio still manufactures the cotton cable assemblies from raw materials in-house. Antipodes Audio assembles all cables from the manufactured inputs to ensure every cable matches our specification.
Antipodes Audio has applied a number of important breakthrough discoveries in cable geometry, wire manufacture and cable resonance control alongside conventional electrical theory to create a unique set of cables that optimise time-domain performance, making the sound more natural and real.
